OUR HISTORY
The Yorktown Community Schools Foundation was established in late 2019 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization at the request of Dr. Greg Hinshaw and with the support of dedicated community leaders. For years, these leaders worked to lay the groundwork for an organization that could provide sustainable financial support to Yorktown Community Schools. Their shared vision was realized with the official formation of the Foundation, ensuring continued investment in the success of Yorktown students and schools.

OUR MISSION
The mission of the Yorktown Community Schools Foundation is to secure and connect resources that strengthen Yorktown Community Schools, thereby enriching our community. The Foundation fulfills a shared vision with the District to provide sustainable support for students and schools. Funding is generated through grant writing, corporate partnerships, individual contributions, and planned gifts, ensuring long-term investment in educational excellence.
Funding Priorities
The Foundation partners with the school board, administrative team, and faculty to identify projects that best serve Yorktown students and align with the school corporation's vision. Major initiatives supported by the Foundation receive approval from the school board, while smaller, school-level projects are guided by input and approval from building principals. Through this process, the Foundation directs resources toward initiatives such as classroom grants, student scholarships, technology and equipment upgrades, extracurricular opportunities, and programs that support student and community wellness. Each funded project is designed to enhance learning, broaden opportunities, and strengthen the Yorktown community.
Our Role
The Foundation is designed to complement—not duplicate—the important work of Yorktown Community Schools Booster Clubs and PTAs, which continue to raise funds for their specific school projects.
